Bergerac

Monday 13/05/19

Today was a day for visiting Aires, we needed to service Bokkie and do laundry but for some reason couldn't seem to find everything at one place.

We had been notified that we couldn't stay at Beynac any longer as they were going to be working on the parking area the next day, so we decided to make an early exit and were out just after seven.  We drove to Saint Cyprien which had a laundry outside the Carrefour supermarket and a service point.  Unfortunately the tumble-dryer was turbo-charged - but not in a good way.  it spun the clothes so fast they couldn't dry properly which is really annoying when you have already paid!  Luckily it is sunny today so Bokkie looks and smells like a laundry with clothing spread all over the interior, drying.

Crossing the Dordogne towards Lalinde

We managed to fill our water at a service point next to the laundry but there wasn't a point to dump our black waste so we headed to Lalinde.  Here we found the Aire had been closed so we headed to Saint-Saveur where we were able to dump successfully.  From there we looked in at an Aire at Lembras, near to Bergerac but decided to move closer and are now in an Aire on the outskirts of Bergerac.

Bergerac

Cyrano de Bergerac - note the nose!

Methinks the medieval builders should have used a medieval spirit level!

We hauled the bikes off as they have been a bit neglected lately and headed into town.  We popped in to have a look at a campsite that we may use when we fetch Charmaine from the airport and also looked around town.  As usual we timed our trip badly; on Mondays many shops don't open and over lunchtime French villages come to a standstill - with only the restaurants very busy.  I want to have a haircut so we might hang around and try and do it tomorrow - the city is very pretty indeed, with a nice old town which needs exploring.

The only fly in the ointment currently is a howling gale, which, combined with the springtime pollen has Toni constantly reaching for hayfever meds and tissues!
