Near Frévaux

Friday 13/09/19

Bokkie and crew have huge smiles on their faces; we're on the road again but the reason for the smiles is that we are heading to the UK for a graduation!  Charmaine has passed and we are ecstatic and extremely proud.  After so many years' hard work, Charms can finally take a break from studying and get down to working, starting at the end of the month. 😏

A familiar view from Bokkie's spot - we were here in August.
It was a frenzy of gardening and tidying before our hosts returned from their holiday and we could hand over the property and cats until next month.  We hosted a supper of 'bobotie en geel rys' with home-made rhubarb chutney, 'boereboonjies made with all of their garden vegetables,  and panacotta for desert.  Toni really outdid herself and we had a lovely time entertaining the owners.

Tidying up the lawn on one of the three mowers...
Jess seemed happy enough with us leaving, she boxed herself up for
 delivery to her owners

Jasper partied through the night and had to sleep it off with Flaffie

Much of our drive was on the motorway but after Caen we moved to minor road with pretty villages

This morning it was time for a final clean-up, hand over the cats and we headed off northward.  We stopped along the way as we knew when the results were due and would vary our destination based on the outcome.  The news was fantastic so we are streaking northward to see if we can see some new countries for a quick break before getting the ferry back to the UK - watch this space.

We had our longest drive so far in Bokkie, 414km and it took us all day.  We are in a familiar location alongside the Seine and managed to find our previous spot vacant so we slotted straight in.

We've been for a walk and have just watched the pilot board a massive ship in front of us.

The pilot clambering up the ladder to guide the vessel to sea.

Early to bed and hopefully no more dreams about exams for any of us.
Congratulations Dr. Charmaine Micklem!
