Praia do Amado

Bokkie, the Transformer, changed from being our home into our vehicle again this morning and we hit the road.  We've come as far West as we can across the Algarve so it's time to start working our way North.

The scenery changed as we turned up the Western Algarve and we headed for one of Portugal's prime surf spots.  We actually turned down this road on our last trip, in Feb 2017, but were put off by the narrow, winding look of it and, being in a rental van last time we chickened out.

Now, as we are hardened motor-homers (ahem), we took the bull by the horns, so to speak and were rewarded with a stunning location.

The photos don't really do it justice, the colours are amazing

Pink rocks wherever you look.

I was fascinated by the colours of the rocks, it looked like someone had spilt
paint on it with drops and patterns, but it was all the same rock.

This is the advantage of having a motor-home, finding unique spots like this

Praia do Portinho do Forno

I hope the motor-home on top has a good hand-brake
Once we were in the parking area we were amazed at the hustle and bustle of the place.  There are loads of surfers coming and going, and quite an assortment of campers, motor-bikers, trucks and cyclists making their way towards the beach. It's great for people-watching. The only downside today is that the wind is howling non-stop.  It doesn't seem to deter the surfers though...

This couple caught our eye - it's amazing how light you can really travel if you want to.

This spot is known for its spectacular sunsets, unfortunately the wind had cleared the air too much for a stunner but it was still lovely to watch it set over the Atlantic.
