Silves

Thursday 07/02/19

Bokkie is parked in the shadow of Silves castle, it's obviously a newish Aire as it is still under construction in the Maps image above.

The Aire is packed with motor-homes but the lovely lady who runs it managed to shoe-horn Bokkie into a spot.

Approaching Silves

Our mission for the day was to get haircuts which we managed, and so are both looking fairly respectable again.  Silves is another ancient town with a strong Moor influence and a gorgeous Roman bridge, but I didn't have the camera with me so photos are unfortunately limited.  It is dominated by the castle on top of the hill and has lovely steep walks along cobbled lanes.

We had a gap between the two haircuts to have a quick bite to eat and then couldn't resist some hot chocolate in a very quaint coffee shop, owned by a lovely Dutch lady.

The chocolate mugs were beautiful

Tomorrow we will move on; we want to try out our ACSI card and a campsite at the western end of the Algarve before we start to move northwards.

The shock of losing all my hair meant I didn't notice the barber had tucked my
collar in until much later...
Bonus pic - Google said 'turn left at the foot of the lemon tree' and I didn't understand the directions at first...
