Near Hartfield

Friday 02/08/19

Bokkie has the very rare luxury of a roof over her head at the moment and is loving it.

We're on our house-sit in Pooh-country near Hartfield, with glorious views of Ashdown Forest in the distance.  We're in a magnificent listed farmhouse with sloping floors and the most amazing woodwork.  It's been in the family for years and reminds one of a previous era.

All this for the 2 of us?! (and the animals of course...)

We were battered by a storm on the first day of the sit as we are perched on the top of the hill, but fortunately it has all calmed down now and we are enjoying the garden and surrounding area.

View from the house, the rose garden, bowling green and formal beds

We're spending our time doing maintenance on Bokkie, cooking, gardening and dog-walking - so the days seem to fly by.

A day in the life of a house-sitter:-

I usually head off with the dogs first thing in the morning while Toni goes for a run and we meet mid-way and walk back together.  The area is full of deer and pheasants so the dogs go wild chasing after scents.

Today we spent about an hour looking for the Spaniel who headed off after something tasty; we aged about 5 years looking for her...

We're such a sight in the mornings all the locals come over for a look!

Never thought you'd see a flying Ridgeback!

After the walk it's time to dry off, brush out all the burrs and check for seeds under paws, one of us seems to be enjoying it a bit!

And then its time to relax...

We also have a gorgeous Tabby cat at the house, but with such a large property at her disposal, we only see her on the rare occasion that she wants food (when she gets too lazy to catch her own...)

A cat named 'Mouse'
We're really enjoying this sit, and are looking forward to seeing Charmaine soon as well for a final study-session before we jump back across the pond.
