Playa de Rodiles

Sunday 17/03/19

As we are so exposed to the weather in Bokkie, we keep a close eye on the forecasts so knew we could expect rain in the morning.  Because we were so high up we also knew there was a chance we would be above the cloud base.  When we woke up we were greeted by the following sight, or lack thereof.

I popped out to remove the thermal screen and it was freezing - and then it started snowing!  We decided we needed to get out or risk spending the day there.  Visibility was terrible, but we had seen the locals driving about and were fairly certain things would improve as we descended.

We set off and, apart from crazy Spanish drivers driving without their lights on and overtaking us completely blind to oncoming traffic, it was fine.  We crawled down the steep inclines with all our lights on and it wasn't too long before we dropped out under the clouds.  It rained for much of the day and we headed for the Bay of Biscay to stop in an Aire in a surf school parking area.  We had a walk around when the weather lifted and it is absolutely lovely here, a peaceful spot to spend the night.

Gema del Mar on the opposite bank

Dark clouds still hanging over the interior
That's the beauty of motorhoming - from snow to sea and sunshine in one short drive!
