Quiberon

Monday 15/06/20

Bokkie is cheekily free-camping (with 2 other motorhomes) in a parking lot next to the beach on the narrow Quiberon peninsula which juts out 10km into the sea.  The peninsula is only about 2 km wide where we are, which is on the more sheltered Morbihan gulf side.

We have had another wonderful day, managing to have two long walks in spite of a very forbidding weather forecast.

We woke up to an absolute downpour this morning and it rained non-stop while we went for showers, packed Bokkie up and checked out of the campsite.  We drove back to Noyal-Muzillac to pick up our post (Jasper and Jessie could hardly be bothered open their eyes to greet us - so much for missing us!).  B&T are taking advantage of the rainy weather and are repainting the interior of their house - definitely not people who sit idle.  They kindly gave us some of the harvested new potatoes which are delicious.

We then drove past Vannes and onto the peninsula, only about 70m wide at the narrowest point; the mighty Atlantic on one side and the Gulf of Morbihan on the other.  It has a really laid back, holiday feel to it and is quite big once you are on the peninsula.  We went for a very long walk (around 8 km) and ended up walking all the way across to the Atlantic - absolutely beautiful (though Toni's shoes did start squeezing a bit).  Later we dipped our feet back on the Morbihan side which was so nice that we did it again with another walk along the beach in the evening.

We routed back through the village on the way back to Bokkie and came across the Kerbourgnec alignments, a collection of preserved megalithic stones an menhirs, like a mini stonehenge.  Unfortunately we didn't have the camera or phone with us but will pop across in the morning if we remember.

Our address for the night...
